The Liberal National Coalition will never change the date of Australia Day.

Today’s media reports that Bill Shorten’s Victorian Labor Party have proposed moving the date of Australia Day show just how out of touch they are with Australians.

Debating this issue shows the warped priorities of Bill Shorten’s Labor Party, especially at a time when Victorians are facing a crime epidemic, surging power prices and rising congestion.

The motion proposed by the Victorian Labor Party is yet another example of Bill Shorten being beholden to the loony left of the Labor Party and the most extreme elements of the trade union movement.

LNP Senator for Queensland and Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, James McGrath has restated the Liberal National Coalition’s position that the date of Australia Day will not be moved.

“The overwhelming opinion of the majority of Australians is that Australia Day should not be moved from January 26.

“Australia Day is a day for all Australians, wherever they come from, to celebrate the miracle of Australia – its democracy, freedom and its culture.

“Bill Shorten’s out of touch Labor Party think they know better than the majority of Australians, while ignoring the issues Victorians are most concerned about.

Unlike Labor, the Liberal National Coalition is committed to the issues that Australians care about and will continue to deliver for all Australians – not just the noisy few.

The Turnbull Government is creating a stronger economy to ensure we can guarantee the essential services Australians need, while providing income tax relief and bringing the budget back to balance.
