MEDIA RELEASE

APPOINTMENT TO THE TAYLOR SHADOW MINISTRY

17 February 2026

Today, Senator the Hon James McGrath has been re-appointed by Opposition Leader Angus Taylor as the Shadow Special Minister of State, Shadow Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities, and the Shadow Minister for the Olympics and Paralympics.

“I am grateful to Opposition Leader Angus Taylor for the opportunity to once again serve in the new Shadow Ministry as we in the Liberal Party get back to focusing on Australians and continue our rebuild. We need to get back to holding this hapless Labor Government to account because only under a Coalition government are Australians happier, wealthier and more comfortable,” Senator James McGrath said.

“I look forward to continuing my role as Special Minister of State so that I can continue protecting Australia’s unique democracy which is always under threat with Labor and the Greens in power.

“The importance of investment and proper strategy when it comes to infrastructure in our urban environments and cities is not lost on me. I am eager to continue my work in this space as we look to outline policy ahead of the next election which puts Australians at the forefront and makes their lives safer, easier and more efficient on a daily basis.

“There has never been a better time to serve in the Olympics portfolio alongside the Queensland State Government and Premier David Crisafulli as we finally get shovels in the ground and continue building towards an incredible Olympic and Paralympic games centred around ensuring a lasting legacy for Queensland.”
